Melding Two Cultures
Facebook Data Center, Prineville, Oregon

When Facebook’s Data Center Engineer Manager Marco Magarelli and Data Center Manager Ken Patchett designed the interiors of the recently opened data center in Prineville, Oregon, they knew they wanted to honor the history of the community while operating a contemporary space showcasing cutting edge technology.

The Mocas Group assisted by sourcing historic images and working with the architect to identify contemporary applications to display them.

Display applications included:

  • Prints of historic photos framed with industrial metal moulding and wood mats stained to match artisan stump tables made from local wood
  • Suspended acrylic screen with graphic design featuring photos and descriptive captions highlighting local history
  • Cost effective acrylic frames displaying prints of historic photos
  • Visual timeline composed of acrylic panels depicting the technology of communication through the ages
  • Historic photos printed directly on custom wood panels, stained to match the finishes in the space
